Custom made clothes?

Ready-to-wear apparel is great. You can walk in a store, try it on, and if it fits your body and budget, you can take it home right then. It sure beats the heck out of taking the time to make it yourself or hiring someone to custom-make something, right?

Maybe, maybe not.

If clothes shopping for you is an ongoing exercise in frustration because of your too-long legs, an odd fabric allergy, size-defiant proportions or whatever, maybe it's time to pass the mall and head to a custom clothier instead. For not only will you get to choose your own fabrics and trims, you'll also get clothes that fit correctly regardless of whatever figure challenge you present.

Now I know what you may be thinking: "That's too expensive."

But chances are, it's not. If you add up the cost of buying clothes and paying to have them altered, or buying a special size by mail order and paying to have it shipped, or even burning time and gas to run all over town looking for something that fits, you may find that you'll spend less time and money having something custom made. I encourage you to do the math.

Now if you still think that custom apparel is a bit extravagant, consider this: men's ready-to-wear clothing has been around for nearly two hundred years - since before the sewing machine came along in the 1850's -- but women's ready-to-wear has only been widely available since the 1920's. Why? Because back when women wore corsets, manufacturers had trouble creating clothes that fit! It wasn't until the loose-fitting straight silhouettes became popular in the 20's that manufacturers could profit from selling women's ready-to-wear clothes. So what did women do before that? They either sewed their own clothes or had them custom made.

See how this comes full circle?

So who should consider having her clothes custom made? I suggest you try a custom clothier if you:

*Routinely have to have your clothes altered to fit correctly.

*Have trouble getting certain types of garments to fit, like tops, skirts, or slacks.

*Have special requirements, like fabric allergies, medical issues (wheelchair bound, arthritis/can't fasten buttons), or post-surgical needs.

*Need a special occasion ensemble, gown, or costume.

*Want beautifully made, one-of-a-kind clothes.

Tshirt website tips

Ok guys, i have heard from all those who have been successfull in marketing their t-shirts online: what are the 5 most important tactics to effectively promoting a t-shirt website?

1. Be Unique. Do something different. Have an angle.

2. Know your market.

3. Advertise in front of your market in many ways (search engines, offline ads, banners, newsletters, links, word of mouth, flyers, press releases, sponsorships, giveaways. be creative)

4. Make sure your site is both search engine and people friendly.

5. Never stop finding new ways to market your products and get people seeing your stuff. As cliche as it sounds, think outside the box.

As I've always said, the best designs in the world will sit on the shelf if you don't bring the (right) customers in to see them.

Save time and Money - Tips for design

We can help you overcome blank page syndrome when it comes create memorable tshirts designs or other imprinted products' designs. The first and most important thing to remember is to abide by common sense principals.

Settling on a tshirt design is not always easy. The first step towards a great design idea is to know what you want to say. Don't forge into a design without a clear destination in mind. Write a brief description of your purpose and jot down a few things that will help you accomplish it.

Keep your tshirt design simple and legible. We recommend you generate ideas for you designs by browsing magazines, online clipart libraries--even searching the web for a keyphrase description of what you want on your tshirt design. To browse our library of clipart for tshirt designs click:

Tshirt Defenition - interesting

A T-shirt is a shirt with short sleeves, a round neck, put on over the head, without pockets. It was originally used as undershirt. This is still done, but it is also often worn as the only clothing on the upper part of the body (except that women often wear a bra under it).

The length varies, but it typically reaches the waist. One fashion is an "oversized" T-shirt, a more recent trend are tight and short T-shirts for women that frequently show part of the lower abdomen with the belly button. Often a text and/or picture is printed on it: a slogan, something funny, about an event.

The idea of the T-shirt came to the USA during WWI when US soldiers noticed the light cotton undershirts European soldiers were using while the US soldiers sweated in their wool uniforms. Since they were so much more comfortable they quickly became popular among the Americans, and because of their design they got the name T-shirt.

During WWII the T-shirt had become standard issue underwear in both the US army and navy. After WWII the T-shirt started appearing without a shirt covering it. John Wayne, Marlon Brando and James Dean all wore them on national TV. At first the public was shocked but by 1955 it had became acceptable. The T-shirt became cool when James Dean wore it in the film Rebel Without A Cause.

Kid-U-Not, inc. has come out with a new spring-summer line of t-shirts, hats, and embroidery.
The new line has a variety of kids tees, kids summer prints, and great baseball hats.
The President of the company Linda Rubel told me recently, " We will never compromise our quality for price." What a great statement to make for this new line for 2005!
The best I've seen so far are the Kids Tees. Very professionally done, and the prints are so unique! A perfect solution for your office, your active days, and your kids!

Tshirts a big business?

I recently had the opportunity to visit a t-shirts factory in Sanford, Florida, called Kid-U-Not.
At first, I thought it would be only a small, store front type shop, or maybe
a small warehouse.
Come to my surprise, the place was huge! The factory had to be at least half
the size of a football field, a small cafeteria, offices, and many storerooms! I couldn't believe it! The most astonishing part of the factory was the many automated robotic impressioners, computers, iron-on machines, embroidery machines,
sewing machines, assembly lines, hat makers, photography equipment, and over 50 employees! Wow, I thought, this has to be the biggest business in the world! As I toured the place, I was so impressed with the art and drawing department as to how skilled they are. The company manufacturesshirts for almost every theme park in the country, including Universal Studios.
They make a large selection of hats, kid shirts, kids clothing, and many iron-ons.
So, I said to myself, what is it about
tshirts that makes it such a big business? Well, in this country (USA), there over 300,000 manufacturers of clothing. Each with unique designs, materials, shapes, styles, colors, and cost. But what makes tshirts such a demanded item? Maybe the diversity? Maybe the cost? The shirts are used practically in every school, university, theme park in the USA, and even in most parts of the known world.
So, I said, it has to be advertising! Think about it. What is the best way to get a point across to a large sum of people everyday? Bumper stickers seem to do the same, but not everyone sees them. But, when a t-shirt is worn with art, words or photos, that is usually the first thing you see when you look at most people. The clothes! I think I have seen tons of different
t-shirt designs and embroidery in my lifetime. So really, tshirts are probably one of the largest advertising avenues in the world, with relatively low cost to do so.
Most t-shirt fabrics are made in asian countries like taiwan, china, india, and japan. So exporting these is very low cost. The bottom line is, if you want to advertise, tshirts are definately the way to go, and can make for a very profitable business.
The
Kid-U-Not factory in Sanford Florida is quite impressive. They also boast a very nice catalog with most of their new designs! I recommend them highly, and I'm sure you will be astounded by their expertise.
They also have a website,
http://www.wekidunot.com.
So pay them a visit and see for yourself why t-shirts can be a very big business!
