Tshirts a big business?
I recently had the opportunity to visit a t-shirts factory in Sanford, Florida, called Kid-U-Not.
At first, I thought it would be only a small, store front type shop, or maybe a small warehouse.
Come to my surprise, the place was huge! The factory had to be at least half the size of a football field, a small cafeteria, offices, and many storerooms! I couldn't believe it! The most astonishing part of the factory was the many automated robotic impressioners, computers, iron-on machines, embroidery machines,

The most astonishing part of the factory was the many automated robotic impressioners, computers, iron-on machines, embroidery machines,
sewing machines, assembly lines, hat makers, photography equipment, and over 50 employees! Wow, I thought, this has to be the biggest business in the world! As I toured the place, I was so impressed with the art and drawing department as to how skilled they are. The company manufacturesshirts for almost every theme park in the country, including Universal Studios.
They make a large selection of hats, kid shirts, kids clothing, and many iron-ons.
So, I said to myself, what is it about tshirts that makes it such a big business? Well, in this country (USA), there over 300,000 manufacturers of clothing. Each with unique designs, materials, shapes, styles, colors, and cost. But what makes tshirts such a demanded item? Maybe the diversity? Maybe the cost? The shirts are used practically in every school, university, theme park in the USA, and even in most parts of the known world.
So, I said, it has to be advertising! Think about it. What is the best way to get a point across to a large sum of people everyday? Bumper stickers seem to do the same, but not everyone sees them. But, when a t-shirt is worn with art, words or photos, that is usually the first thing you see when you look at most people. The clothes! I think I have seen tons of different t-shirt designs and embroidery in my lifetime. So really, tshirts are probably one of the largest advertising avenues in the world, with relatively low cost to do so.
Most t-shirt fabrics are made in asian countries like taiwan, china, india, and japan. So exporting these is very low cost. The bottom line is, if you want to advertise, tshirts are definately the way to go, and can make for a very profitable business.
The Kid-U-Not factory in Sanford Florida is quite impressive. They also boast a very nice catalog with most of their new designs! I recommend them highly, and I'm sure you will be astounded by their expertise.
They also have a website, http://www.wekidunot.com.
So pay them a visit and see for yourself why t-shirts can be a very big business!
